ان وثيقة الشحن هي سند بالبضائع الموسوقة يعطيه الربان وهي تنظم على نسخ ثلاث: نسخة
للواسق وثانية للمرسل اليه وثالثة
للربان ويشترط ان يذكر فيها ما يأتي: -
أ- اسم المتعاقدين: مجهز السفينة والمستأجر.
ب- تحديد البضائع الموسوقة بنوعها ووزنها وحجمها وعلاماتها ( ماركاتها ) وعدد طرودها.
جـ- اسم السفينة وجنسيتها وحمولتها.
د- شروط النقل من اجرة السفينة ومحل السفر والمكان المقصود.
هـ- تاريخ تسليم الوثيقة.
و- عدد النسخ التي نظمها الربان.
ز- امضاء الربان او مالك السفينة او وكيله والواسق.
