Hjouj Law Firm & Arbitration delivered legal training and awareness sessions for women benefiting from the Bothoor project. The sessions helped participants understand business registration and home-based licensing requirements and discuss procedures relevant to their activities with representatives of the responsible institutions.
This work formed part of the Bothoor project implemented by COOPI with funding from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). COOPI published a report on the legal awareness sessions on 21 November 2024. This page presents the firm's experience of preparing and delivering these activities, their geographic coverage and practical outcomes.
Connecting Legal Knowledge with Practical Procedures
The firm prepared and delivered the training and coordinated the attendance of representatives from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, the Social Security Corporation, the Jordan Food and Drug Administration, the Association of Income and Sales Tax Experts, and municipalities explaining occupational licensing requirements.
Bringing these representatives together enabled beneficiaries to ask questions about their businesses and discuss registration and licensing from several perspectives. Topics included business registration, occupational and home-based licensing, and relevant social security, tax, food and drug requirements, according to the activity and the responsible authority.
Activities across Eight Governorates
The activities delivered by the firm covered Zarqa, Irbid, Karak, Tafilah, Mafraq, Balqa, Jerash and Ajloun. This coverage enabled women in different locations to access legal and procedural information relevant to the environments in which their businesses operate.
The training explained procedures in clear language and connected them with participants' questions and practical needs, while allowing direct dialogue with the relevant institutional representatives. The aim was to help each beneficiary understand the next step and identify the authority responsible for completing her business procedures.
From Awareness to Registration and Licensing
According to the firm's follow-up of these activities, the initiative contributed to business registrations and home-based business licences for women benefiting from Bothoor.
The experience illustrates the role of legal training that combines explanation, follow-up and coordination with the relevant institutions. It is among the areas in which the firm works with organisations seeking programmes tailored to beneficiaries' needs and economic activities.
